Arbovirus surveillance in Iowa, USA, during the flood of 1993.
During the summer of 1993, mosquitoes were collected by dry ice-baited CDC light traps from July through September in 12 different cities in Iowa. In all, 169,907 mosquitoes belonging to 17 different species were collected. A total of 2,013 pools were processed for arbovirus isolation, from which 59 arbovirus isolates were obtained: 41 Flanders (FLA), 16 trivittatus (TVT), one Cache Valley (CV)...
متن کاملGeneralized Exponential Distribution in Flood Frequency Analysis for Polish Rivers.
Many distributions have been used in flood frequency analysis (FFA) for fitting the flood extremes data. However, as shown in the paper, the scatter of Polish data plotted on the moment ratio diagram shows that there is still room for a new model. In the paper, we study the usefulness of the generalized exponential (GE) distribution in flood frequency analysis for Polish Rivers. We investigate ...

The waters of the modern Illinois River flow gently through looping meanders bordered by quiet backwater lakes and drop only a few inches in each river mile. Concealed beneath this gentle river is geologic evidence that the Illinois descended from ancient rivers with surprising and sometimes violent histories.
